Presidential Primary,  1st Tuesday after 1st Monday in February……(February 5, 2008

Last Day for registration and transfer  Jan 15, 2008
Last day to apply for Civilian Absentee Ballot by mail  Jan 29, 2008

School Board Election, 3rd Tuesday in April…April 15, 2008

Last day for registration and transfer…..March 25, 2008
Last day to apply for Civilian Absentee Ballot by mail….April 8, 2008

Primary Election 1st Tuesday after 1st Monday in June ….June 3, 2008

Last day to file petitions for June Primary…..April 7, 2008
Last day for Party Declaration/Affiliation…….April 14, 2008
Last day for registration and transfer………..May 13, 2008
Last day to apply for Civilian Absentee Ballot…May 27, 2008

General Election 1st Tuesday after 1st Monday in November ….November 4, 2008

Last day for registration and transfer………………..October 14, 2008
Last day to apply for Civilian Absentee Ballot by mail….October 28, 2008

You are eligible to vote in New Jersey and Federal elections if you are:

  • A United States Citizen

  • A least 18 years old by the next election

  • A resident of your home county for 30 days before the election

    A voter may apply for an absentee ballot by completing an “Absentee Ballot Application” and mailing it to the County Clerk by mail up to 7 days prior to the election. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3:00 PM the day before the election. FAXED COPIES ARE NOT ACCEPTED. Absentee ballot Applications are also available in the Municipal Clerk’s Office.

    Your polling place will be designated on your sample ballot, which if you are registered to vote in this election, should be received by you approximately 5 days before the election.

    You may register to vote at the Municipal Clerk’s Office Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. Send the completed application to Essex County Clerk, PO Box 690, Newark, NJ 07101-0690 or give it to the Township Clerk. Forms must be received 21 days prior to the next election to be able to vote in that election.
