You are eligible to vote in New Jersey and Federal elections if you are:
- A United States Citizen
- A least 18 years old by the next election
- A resident of your home county for 30 days before the election
A voter may apply for an mail-in ballot by completing an “Mail-in Ballot Application” and mailing it to the County Clerk by mail up to 7 days prior to the election. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3:00 PM the day before the election. FAXED COPIES ARE NOT ACCEPTED. Absentee ballot Applications are also available in the Municipal Clerk’s Office.
Your polling place will be designated on your sample ballot, which if you are registered to vote in this election, should be received by you approximately 5 days before the election.
You may register to vote at the Municipal Clerk’s Office Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. Send the completed application to Essex County Clerk, PO Box 690, Newark, NJ 07101-0690 or give it to the Township Clerk. Forms must be received 21 days prior to the next election to be able to vote in that election.
